Way Markers installed

14 Way markers have now been installed - thanks to Alex. In summary, they are fashioned from green oak (felled in the wood) and have direction arrows and Cheshire dialect inscribed into them. They have two functions a) to direct visitors around the “Discovery trail” and b) to encourage visitors to question the meaning of the words written on them and hopefully encourage them to find out (discover) their real meaning. During the installation a number of "locals" were on site and gave full approval to what was being done. They fully understood the low key approach. In reality the way markers still leave the visitor with work to do if they are to discover the exact location of each object, especially the nests (or as it says on the post Birdneeze).

Found my direction

The process of making the Way markers now includes lead arrows inserted into the wood. As the oak posts weather the markings will become less obvious but it is important that they continue to function as Way markers - hence the need to make them more prominent.

Boulder - "Text on a Rock"

An impression of the original boulder which inspired the idea of using "text on a rock".
